The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) conducts Parliamentary, Local Government and fee for service elections, maintains the Register of Victorian electors and supports electoral boundary reviews.
Due to rotation requirements, the VEC is seeking to appoint 2 new members for its Audit & Risk Committee. The Committee meets 4 times a year and reports to the Victorian Electoral Commissioner.
Tertiary qualified, the successful candidates will possess at least one of the following skills sets: Finance – Risk Management – IT – Resilience Management – Corporate Compliance, as well as previous Audit Committee exposure. Victorian Government experience is preferred but not essential.
Key Responsibilities outlined in the Audit and Risk Committee Charter include monitoring and oversight of the following:
Financial performance and the reporting process including annual financial statements
Scope of work, performance and independence of internal and external auditors
Operation and implementation of the risk management framework and reports
Effectiveness of management information systems and internal controls
VEC’s process for monitoring compliance with laws and regulations and code of conduct
Review and monitor remedial actions taken to address Compliance Deficiencies
Reports detailing projects and achievements of the Committee over the previous year
This is an exciting opportunity to support the VEC’s role in State and Local Government elections by contributing to and overseeing the electoral processes, as they relate to the financial, operational practices and controls of the Commission.
Terms of appointment are for an initial period of 3 years.
